Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, USA is an American actress. Maggie Grace is most well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively in ABC's Lost television series. After the divorce of her parents her parents separated, she moved to Worthington, Ohio to live with her family in Los Angeles. Although she was struggling financially and in the beginning, she made her acting debut as Rachel's Room's primary character. The role she played of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder, in the television movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was the main actor for the first two seasons, and was awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) on Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, she played the same role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013, Grace appears in Californianation, the 6th season. The character she plays is Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The first time she appeared in films starring her father as an adolescent. Together with her brother she was also as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). In 2002, she was featured as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance as the lead actress in Secretary (2002), an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). She was also nominated by the Golden Globe Award. The actress gained more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercial films she starred in in 2006. Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child was nominated for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The following year, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Other characters include as a secret agent for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer for Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared singing in Frank 2014 and as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the title role. Gyllenhaal's first film as a director and writer took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. The film also won the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
