Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio she left high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. However, in 2001, despite finances, she was able get her first significant role in the online video show Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's main character. The actress was able to secure a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford's character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace, who had worked with Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, was looking to go into the world of film. She also appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Her role was reprised for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern adaptation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes as Shannon. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the 6th Season. She portrays Faith, who is a fan and muse of the celebrities. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal clan and the older sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. She started her acting career as a teenager with small roles in several of the films of her father and starred together with her brother in popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as a lead character in Secretary (2002) which is an erotic romance drama drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she received a nomination from her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. The year 2006 was the time she appeared in numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
